We are looking for a web developer who sees WordPress as a capable publishing platform, not an excuse for a pile of plugins. You will build and improve responsive sites that are easy for clients to manage, clean for search engines to understand and robust enough for our maintenance team to support.
The impact
Your work will shape the first serious impression many customers have of a business. You will help turn design into a fast, accessible website—and make sure the editing experience behind it is just as considered.
What you will own
- Build responsive WordPress websites from approved designs with reusable, maintainable patterns.
- Configure or customise themes, blocks, fields and plugins without creating avoidable lock-in.
- Write and debug HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP when the right answer is code rather than another plugin.
- Optimise Core Web Vitals, image delivery, caching, technical SEO and accessibility before launch.
- Integrate forms, analytics, payments, APIs and third-party tools with careful validation and fallbacks.
- Handle migrations, hosting, DNS and post-launch fixes with backups and rollback plans in place.
What you bring
- Hands-on WordPress development experience and examples you can discuss beyond their visual design.
- Solid HTML and CSS, working JavaScript and enough PHP to follow hooks, templates and plugin behaviour.
- Experience with responsive implementation, browser testing, performance work and SEO fundamentals.
- A security-aware approach to updates, permissions, forms, backups and third-party dependencies.
- Clear estimation and communication when requirements, content or integrations create risk.
Useful, not mandatory
- Gutenberg, Advanced Custom Fields, WooCommerce or custom theme/plugin work.
- Elementor or WPBakery experience paired with the judgment to keep output lean.
- Hosting panels, DNS, Git deployment, Cloudflare or malware cleanup experience.
